Gala Miskiiy is a historic coral stone mosque revered for its architectural craftsmanship and deep connection to Maldivian heritage, featuring a prominent coral stone well within its courtyard. The site is also known for a intriguing piece of local folklore surrounding a unique "birthing stone." According to legend, a pregnant woman experiencing severe labor pains collapsed and passed away at the mosque's entrance, giving birth to a stone upon her death. Well into the late 20th century, expectant mothers visited the site to recite Maulood (traditional religious poetry) in hopes of a safe delivery. The practice was eventually discontinued after religious authorities classified it as an un-Islamic innovation.
