Aliya Meriya Ruggan'du is a sprawling, fertile agricultural zone on GDh. Vaadhoo, distinguished by its expansive coconut palm groves. Throughout the island’s history, notably tied to the era when Sultan Bodu Thakurufaanu sought an island known for toddy tapping, these groves served as a cornerstone of local livelihoods and traditional industry. For generations, Vaadhoo's residents relied on this land to harvest coconuts, extract sweet toddy (Raa), and weave palm fronds (Fangi) for roofing, making Aliya Meriya Ruggan'du an essential pillar of the island’s cultural and economic heritage.
