Dhombeyya Meri Miskiiy and Veyo

Among the most prominent historic landmarks on GDh. Vaadhoo are the Dhombeyya Mosque and its accompanying stone bathing tank (Veyo). As one of the island's oldest places of worship, the mosque is attributed to Muhammad Shamsuddin (known locally as Vaadhoo Dhombeyya), a highly respected Islamic scholar. The adjacent veyo is a masterpiece of traditional Maldivian craftsmanship, constructed from meticulously cut coral stones arranged in descending steps that demonstrate exceptional historical engineering and masonry skills.
